International childhood cancer day is celebrated on 15th February 2022.
This year the theme is ‘Better Survival’ is achievable #throughyourhands “Right care at the right time by the right team”
Although childhood cancer is uncommon, approximately 1 in 10,000 children below 18 years would be diagnosed with cancer every year in our country. Most of the childhood cancers are curable.
Leukemia, Lymphoma and Brain tumors are the three most common cancers in children. Bone and soft tissue tumors, Kidney tumors and Neuroblastoma, Eye & liver tumors, Germ cell tumors are the other cancers.
Most of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer are non specific and subtle. High index of suspicion is essential in making an early diagnosis. With the right diagnosis, and appropriate treatment, most children are expected to get cured.
On this day, we take a pledge that not only all kids with cancer should be diagnosed early but also they should get the right treatment- treatment should reach all children.
Because only the right treatment gives them their best chance for cure.
Multidisciplinary and personalized approach with empathy and that extra touch in caring is essentially.
