Introduction

Dr. VSN Rao is an experienced radiation oncologist with more than 30 years of experience in the field. He is an expert in external radiotherapy and brachytherapy techniques. Dr. Rao has a vast experience in treating cancers of head & neck, breast, oesophagus, gastrointestinal tract, lung, brain, and bones. He has completed his HDR & PDR brachytherapy training from a reputed institute in Germany. His treatment approach is to provide the most advanced and personalised radiation therapy for the best outcomes for cancer patients.

Medical Breakthrough

  • Dr. Rao was associated with the first endobronchial brachytherapy in India.
  • He is also the first radiation oncologist to administer PDR brachytherapy in India.
  • He has trained the staff and postgraduate students in HDR brachytherapy at Regional Cancer Centre, Cuttack in 2001.
  • He is a lifetime member of the Indian Medical Association and Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (AROI). 
  • He was elected twice and has worked as the vice president of AP - AROI.
  • Dr. Rao is currently serving as the president of AP - AROI.   
  • He participated in many cancer awareness camps and anti-tobacco campaigns.
  • He has delivered lectures in many organisations and among multiple medical fraternities in connection with radiation and oncology treatments.
  • Dr. Rao has also been a part of numerous conferences.
